In food composition databases, there is a need to distinguish whether foods packed in a medium (e.g. an edible medium like brine or syrup) has been drained or not drained as this has an effect on the final compositional information of the food. It is suggested to add the two descriptors in the facet Z as

Comments concerning BLANCHED and DRAINED/NOT DRAINED:

 

These descriptors are available as COOKING METHODS but do not cover the meaning of the industrial unit process blanching, which always precedes the unit process freezing in the case of industrially processed frozen vegetables and fruits.

DRAINED/NOT DRAINED appears as COOKING METHOD BOILED AND DRAINED [G0015] and BOILED AND UNDRAINED [G0018], but these do not have the same meaning as the proposed new descriptors.
